This information is provided as a result of an e-mail sent out by the Matsudo Police Station concerning a telephone deception.

[Beware of telephone deception on pension payment day]
Today, February 15, is the pension payment day.
Around the Pension Payment Day, the Matsudo Police Station is stepping up ATM alerts as there tends to be an increase in calls from "refund fraud" scammers pretending to be city hall employees.
Please be very careful about telephone deception, as it is a typical technique of telephone deception.
Do not trust any talk of money, cash cards, etc., hang up the phone immediately and call the police.

[Refund Fraud Prevented by Callers]
There have been a number of refund frauds in which a caller claims to be from a public institution such as a city hall and says, "I have a refund for medical expenses," and asks you to operate an ATM at a financial institution or convenience store to swindle you out of money.

Perpetrators use cell phones to instruct victims how to operate ATMs.
・ If you see a person operating an ATM while talking on a cell phone
・ or operating an ATM in a hurry
, please "talk to" the person proactively and call the police. and report it to the police.
