This information is provided in response to an e-mail from the Chiba Prefectural Police Headquarters regarding snatch-and-runs.

There have been a number of purse-snatching incidents in Chiba Prefecture.
Perpetrators use motorcycles or bicycles to steal bags from behind the victims in order to overtake them.
To avoid becoming a purse-snatching victim
・ Choose a safe street with pedestrian traffic
・ Be aware of your surroundings, such as the sound of a motorcycle coming up behind you
・ Use anti-snatching covers and other security goods
・ Keep your bag away from the road side. It is effective to take measures such as being aware of how you carry your bag, such as keeping it away from the side of the roadway.
If you see a suspicious person ・ or vehicle, please call 110 immediately ・ and report it to the nearest police station.
